ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
We have collected a number of activities which can be of particular interest to kids and the young at heart. Here you can get a good overview of the varous possibilities, which could make make your visit on Orø an unconditional success with your youngsters.
ORØSTRAND MINI-ZOO
This small park has over 400 animals and birds representing approximately 50 different species. You will see red deer, ostrich, llama, crocodile, coati, ferret, marmoset and tropical birds. You will also find a six meter long tiger python, the largest in Denmark! The biggest hit could be a “savannah-tour” on the park’s truck where the kids can feed ostriches, cattle, deer and other animals.
THE BEACH
At Nørre Stænge you will find Orø’s Blue Flag beach right opposite Orø Camping. The beach is particularly suitable for small children because the shallow waters go a long way out before getting more than knee-deep. The sand is great, and the ice-cream cones and lollies from the kiosk taste wonderfull!
MINI-GOLF
You can play mini-golf both at the restaurant Den Gode Vikings Bistro and at Orø Strandcamping. A round of mini-golf can easily be combined with refreshments.
BOUNCY PILLOW & PLAYGROUND
At the beautifully situated camping site right down at the fjord shore you will find inflated pillows and a small playground. Even though these facilities are primarily for campers, everyone is welcome to use them if something is purchased at the kiosk. Why not start with a HUGE old-fashioned Orø ice-cream cone!
GEOCACHING ON ORØ
GEOCACHING is the new sport!
Go treasure hunting with your mobile phone in hand and explore Orø in a fun and healthy way. This is a great way for school-age kids and adults who like a bit of adventure while enjoying the island.
CRAB FISHING
For many kids summer means catching crabs and on Orø you and your children can have a lot of enjoyment doing exactly that. You can fish from one of the harbour docks, and after a lot of hard work and the crab fishers need a break, the harbour kiosk is just a few steps away!
